Junshan Silver Needle
Buds from Junshan island, smothered after firing so they yellow slowly. Delicate and sweet with a fresh-corn note. Almost none of the edge of a green tea.

Meng Ding Huangya is one of the oldest named teas in China, recorded as an imperial tribute for over a thousand years, and production is still small enough that most of it never leaves Sichuan. The cup is soft and pale, floral rather than vegetal, with a honeyed thickness that builds instead of arriving all at once. The first infusion is often the quietest; the second and third carry the weight. Eighty degrees and three minutes, and give it more than one steep before deciding what you think of it.
